Set step status

set_step_status
WriteIdempotent

What it does

Check a plan sub-step off (done=true) or reopen it (done=false), then return the refreshed plan. Use when the user says they finished a step, or when the interactive plan widget toggles a checkbox. The approval gate always applies: a step that isn't agent_ok goes to 'awaiting your approval' rather than straight to done. Reopening, and checking off an agent_ok step, apply immediately.

Parameters

NameTypeRequiredDescription
step_idstringRequired

The sub-step task id (must be a step of a plan — i.e. have a parent).

donebooleanRequired

true to check it off, false to reopen it.

Annotations

The hints the server sends with this tool. A host reads them to decide whether to ask you before a call.

Read-onlyreadOnlyHint: false
Changes data in your Done account.
DestructivedestructiveHint: false
Only adds or reads; nothing already there is removed or overwritten.
IdempotentidempotentHint: true
Calling it twice with the same arguments leaves the same result as calling it once.
Open worldopenWorldHint: false
Touches only your own Done account.

Which tokens can call it

A connection made with OAuth has full access. A token from Settings → Agent access → Extra MCP tokens can be narrowed, and a narrowed token never sees beyond its project or workspace.

  • Full accessAllowed
  • Read-only tokenRefused
  • Single-project tokenRefused
  • Single-workspace tokenAllowed
