Asana alternative for AI agents

Done vs Asana

Asana brings AI Teammates to company workflows. Done brings your own agent to your to-do list.

Asana is a work management platform for teams, and its AI Teammates are prebuilt or custom agents that work inside your projects with the context of Asana's Work Graph, with checkpoints so the team can review their approach. They're metered per request on paid plans. Done is smaller and more personal: a to-do list where you assign any task to the agent you already use, approve what it delivers, and answer its questions when it gets stuck.

Who Asana is for

Asana is for companies coordinating cross-team work, with portfolios, goals, workload and approvals for people, that want AI agents operating inside those same workflows.

Why people choose Done

  • Bring your own agent (Claude, ChatGPT, any MCP client); no per-request AI metering
  • An approval gate on every agent-completed task, by default
  • Agents can park a question and move on, with answers by app, email or Slack
  • Simple enough for one person: quick capture, a day plan and a free plan to start

Where Asana shines

Asana is built for organizations: portfolios, goals, workload, forms, rules and approvals for people, all in one place. AI Teammates work inside that structure with the company's context, and Asana's official MCP server lets outside AI tools read and act on your work graph.

Frequently asked questions

Are Asana AI Teammates included in my plan?

Asana's pricing page gives each paid user 5 AI Teammates and Asana Dash requests a month, capped at 50 per account on Starter and Advanced, with extra requests at $0.50 to $0.60 each. Done doesn't meter agent work: you bring your own agent, and Done counts only calls to its MCP server.

Can I import my Asana tasks into Done?

Yes. Export a CSV from Asana and import it in Done under Settings → Data; Done recognizes Asana's export.

Is Done a replacement for Asana?

For a large team running portfolios and workload planning, no. For an individual or a small team who mainly wants to hand tasks to AI agents and approve the results, Done is simpler and cheaper.
