Notion alternative for tasks

Done vs Notion

Notion is where your team's knowledge lives. Done is where tasks get handed to an agent and come back finished.

Notion is a connected workspace (docs, wikis and databases) and since May 2026 it runs Custom Agents: you describe a job, give the agent access to pages and connected apps, and it runs on a schedule or a trigger, billed in Notion credits. That's real agent work, but it's built around Notion's own agent working inside Notion. Done starts from the other end: a fast to-do list where any task can be assigned to the agent you already use, with its result held for your approval and a place for it to ask you questions.

Who Notion is for

Notion is for teams that want their docs, wikis and project databases in one place, and want agents that keep that knowledge up to date: triaging requests, writing reports, filing bugs, all inside Notion.

Why people choose Done

  • Assign a task to the agent you choose (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor), not only a Notion agent
  • An approval step before agent work counts as done, not just a version history afterwards
  • Agents can park a question for you and keep working
  • A to-do list first: quick capture, a plan for your day, and an MCP server free to start

Where Notion shines

Notion is unmatched as a flexible workspace: docs, wikis and databases you can shape into almost any system. Its Custom Agents run on schedules and triggers across your pages and connected apps, and its official MCP server is one of the most widely supported. If your team's work already lives in Notion, its agents are the natural place to start.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Notion and Done together?

Yes, and many people do. Connect Notion in Done's connected apps, and an agent working a Done task can search and read your Notion pages for context, without you pasting them into the task.

What do Notion Custom Agents cost?

Custom Agents need a Business or Enterprise plan and run on Notion credits, sold at $10 per 1,000 a month; how many credits a run uses depends on how much it reads and does. Done doesn't charge for agent compute at all: your agent runs on your own Claude or ChatGPT plan, and Done meters only calls to its MCP server (100 a month free, unlimited on Pro).

Is Done a Notion replacement?

No. Done doesn't do docs or wikis. It's a task list built for handing work to agents. If you need a knowledge base, keep Notion and let Done's agents read it.
