Notion MCP server
Yes. Notion hosts an official remote MCP server at mcp.notion.com/mcp. You authorize it with OAuth, it can reach whatever you can reach in your workspace, and Notion documents 68 tools for it, from search and pages to databases, comments, calendar events and Custom Agent sessions.
https://mcp.notion.com/mcpHow to connect it
- Claude Code: run the command below, then run /mcp and finish the OAuth sign-in.
- Cursor: add a server with the URL https://mcp.notion.com/mcp to .cursor/mcp.json, enable Notion under Customize, and sign in.
- VS Code: add an http server with the same URL to .vscode/mcp.json, start it from MCP: List Servers, and sign in.
- Codex: add the URL under [mcp_servers.notion] in ~/.codex/config.toml, then run codex mcp login notion.
- Use the SSE address, mcp.notion.com/sse, only if your client can't do Streamable HTTP. On Business and Enterprise, a workspace owner can also mint an MCP token that a client sends as a bearer token, with no browser sign-in.
claude mcp add --transport http notion https://mcp.notion.com/mcpWhat it can do
- Search pages and databases, and on Business or Enterprise with Notion AI, connected sources such as Slack, Google Drive and GitHub
- Fetch, create, update, move and duplicate pages, and move up to 20 pages or databases to the trash per call (and restore them)
- Create databases and views, and query data sources, including with SQL
- Comment, resolve discussions, and propose suggested edits that a person accepts or rejects
- Read and create calendar events, and start, follow and stop Custom Agent sessions
What it doesn't do
- Only workspace members can connect; guests are refused.
- Suggested edits cover page content. Its docs don't describe an approval step before an agent's change to a task's status counts.
- Some filters, SQL across several data sources, comment editing and suggested edits need Business or Enterprise with Notion AI.
- Restricting which MCP clients members can connect needs the Enterprise plan; otherwise a connection reaches everything its user can.
Staying on Notion?
Use the hosted server rather than the old open-source notion-mcp-server: Notion says the package is no longer actively maintained and calls running it locally a last resort for clients that can't reach a remote server.
When Done makes sense instead
Done is a to-do app built for handing work to an AI agent, with the parts an agent needs before you trust it with real tasks:
- An approval gate: by default an agent can propose that a task is finished, but only you can close it. Done enforces that, so it holds even if an agent tries to skip it.
- Questions instead of guesses: an agent parks a decision with its recommendation, and you answer in one click.
- Plans before work: an agent can propose a plan that waits for your yes before it starts.
- Lanes: name your agents and pin each task to one, so two agents don't pick up the same work.
- Scoped access: tokens that are read-only or limited to one project or workspace, and budgets an agent can't raise.
Moving takes one step
In Notion, open the database, click ••• → Export, choose Markdown & CSV, and unzip the download. Done recognizes the database's CSV.
Done's import preview shows exactly what lands — projects, tasks, due dates, priorities — before you create an account, and nothing is uploaded.
