Google Tasks MCP server
No. Google publishes MCP servers for Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Chat, People and Classroom, in a developer preview, but Google Tasks isn't one of them. Community servers fill the gap through the Google Tasks API.
How to connect it
- Create a Google Cloud project, enable the Google Tasks API and set up an OAuth consent screen.
- Create a desktop OAuth client and download its keys.
- Install a community server such as zcaceres/gtasks-mcp, run its sign-in step once, and add it to your MCP client as a local server.
What it can do
- Search and list tasks
- Create, update, complete and delete tasks
- Clear completed tasks from a list
What it doesn't do
- None of them is made or supported by Google.
- Each one needs your own Google Cloud project and OAuth client, which is real setup for a to-do list.
- Google Tasks itself has lists, but no priorities, tags or dependencies for an agent to work with.
Staying on Google Tasks?
If you mostly need your assistant to see tasks next to your mail and calendar, check whether your assistant's built-in Google connector already covers what you need before you set up a Cloud project.
When Done makes sense instead
Done is a to-do app built for handing work to an AI agent, with the parts an agent needs before you trust it with real tasks:
- An approval gate: by default an agent can propose that a task is finished, but only you can close it. Done enforces that, so it holds even if an agent tries to skip it.
- Questions instead of guesses: an agent parks a decision with its recommendation, and you answer in one click.
- Plans before work: an agent can propose a plan that waits for your yes before it starts.
- Lanes: name your agents and pin each task to one, so two agents don't pick up the same work.
- Scoped access: tokens that are read-only or limited to one project or workspace, and budgets an agent can't raise.
Moving takes one step
Google Tasks has no CSV export (Google Takeout gives a format Done doesn't read). For a short list, copy the titles and use Paste a list on Done's import preview.
Done's import preview shows exactly what lands — projects, tasks, due dates, priorities — before you create an account, and nothing is uploaded.
