ClickUp MCP server
Yes. ClickUp hosts an official MCP server at mcp.clickup.com/mcp, available on every plan. It signs in with OAuth only, documents 65 tools, and caps how many calls a workspace can make each day, from 100 on Free Forever to no cap at all on MAX.
https://mcp.clickup.com/mcpHow to connect it
- Claude on Pro, Team or Enterprise: Settings → Connectors → Add, name it ClickUp and paste https://mcp.clickup.com/mcp. On Claude's Free plan, ClickUp's docs show an mcp-remote entry in claude_desktop_config.json instead.
- ChatGPT: open Apps, find ClickUp, select Connect and choose the workspaces. On Team, Enterprise and Edu, only owners and admins can set it up.
- Claude Code: run the command below, then run /mcp to sign in.
- Cursor: add the URL to mcp.json; VS Code: run code --add-mcp with the same URL and start the server from the Extensions view.
claude mcp add --transport http clickup https://mcp.clickup.com/mcpWhat it can do
- Create, update, move, merge and filter tasks, and set dependencies, links and tags
- Start and stop timers, log time and read time in status
- Create and edit Docs and their pages
- Read and write comments and Chat messages, and set reminders
- Search the workspace and resolve members by name
What it doesn't do
- Daily calls are capped per workspace and per client: 100 on Free Forever, 300 on Core, 1,000 on Business. For Enterprise, ClickUp's developer docs say 5,000 and its pricing page 25,000; MAX has no daily cap.
- No API keys: OAuth is the only way in.
- ClickUp's overview says the server has no deletion tools, yet its tool reference lists clickup_delete_task and clickup_delete_comment. Try writes on a test list first.
- Its docs don't describe an approval step before an outside agent's change counts, and Connected Search across other apps isn't available.
Staying on ClickUp?
Budget for the daily cap before you schedule an agent against ClickUp: on Free Forever, 100 calls is a single long working session. A failed call returns RATE_LIMIT_EXCEEDED with a retryAfter, and listing the tools doesn't count against the cap.
When Done makes sense instead
Done is a to-do app built for handing work to an AI agent, with the parts an agent needs before you trust it with real tasks:
- An approval gate: by default an agent can propose that a task is finished, but only you can close it. Done enforces that, so it holds even if an agent tries to skip it.
- Questions instead of guesses: an agent parks a decision with its recommendation, and you answer in one click.
- Plans before work: an agent can propose a plan that waits for your yes before it starts.
- Lanes: name your agents and pin each task to one, so two agents don't pick up the same work.
- Scoped access: tokens that are read-only or limited to one project or workspace, and budgets an agent can't raise.
Moving takes one step
In ClickUp, open the List or Table view, click Customize at the top right, then Export, and pick the columns and CSV. Done reads any CSV with a title column.
Done's import preview shows exactly what lands — projects, tasks, due dates, priorities — before you create an account, and nothing is uploaded.
