Trello MCP server
Yes. Trello has its own official MCP server at mcp.trello.com/v1, separate from Atlassian's Rovo server for Jira and Confluence. It signs in with OAuth 2.0 only, works on every Trello plan, and on the consent screen you choose which workspaces it can reach.
https://mcp.trello.com/v1How to connect it
- Claude or ChatGPT: add Trello from the client's app listing and sign in.
- Cursor, VS Code or Gemini CLI: use the install links in Trello's help article.
- Any other MCP client: add https://mcp.trello.com/v1, start the connection, pick one or more workspaces, then approve the Read, Write and Search permissions.
What it can do
- View and create boards, and view and move lists
- Create, update, move, archive and mark cards done, with labels and members
- Create and update checklists, and read, add and edit comments
- Search cards and boards, work with your Inbox and Planner, and read board activity
What it doesn't do
- No permanent deletes: cards and lists can only be archived.
- No API tokens: OAuth is the only way in, and there's no local file upload.
- Label management, editing or archiving boards, copying cards and member management are listed as planned, not available yet.
- Its docs don't describe an approval step before an agent's change to a card counts.
Staying on Trello?
The archive-only design makes Trello one of the safer boards to point an agent at: the worst a confused agent can do is archive a card, which you can restore. Admins can also switch reading or writing off for the whole organization.
When Done makes sense instead
Done is a to-do app built for handing work to an AI agent, with the parts an agent needs before you trust it with real tasks:
- An approval gate: by default an agent can propose that a task is finished, but only you can close it. Done enforces that, so it holds even if an agent tries to skip it.
- Questions instead of guesses: an agent parks a decision with its recommendation, and you answer in one click.
- Plans before work: an agent can propose a plan that waits for your yes before it starts.
- Lanes: name your agents and pin each task to one, so two agents don't pick up the same work.
- Scoped access: tokens that are read-only or limited to one project or workspace, and budgets an agent can't raise.
Moving takes one step
In Trello, open the board menu, then Print, Export, and Share → Export as CSV (a Premium feature). Done recognizes Trello's CSV export.
Done's import preview shows exactly what lands — projects, tasks, due dates, priorities — before you create an account, and nothing is uploaded.
