Moving checklist

A week-by-week moving checklist, from getting quotes to the first night in your new place. Tick it off here, print it, or import it into Done in one paste.

Moving is a project with a hard deadline and a hundred small tasks, most of which only matter if they're done early enough. This checklist works back from moving day, so each task sits in the week it's actually due.

Import it into Done and every line becomes a task in a Moving project. The research ones — comparing movers, finding storage — are a good fit for an agent that can browse the web.

How to use this template

  1. Start six to eight weeks out, or as early as you can.
  2. Work through each stage in order and tick tasks off as they're done.
  3. Anything you can't finish in its week moves to the next one — just don't let it slip past moving day.

I'm moving on [moving date]. Turn this checklist into a project:

1. Call create_project to make a project called "Moving".
2. Call create_task for each item below, in that project, with a due_date worked back from my moving date: the "6–8 weeks before" items seven weeks out, "4 weeks before" four weeks out, and so on. Items under "After the move" are due the week after.
3. Give priority "urgent" to the items with a long lead time: getting quotes, booking the movers, mail forwarding and switching utilities.
4. Don't create anything twice — call list_tasks first and skip what's already there.

End with the tasks that are due in the next seven days.
