Work windows, buffers and drag-to-schedule
Tell Done which hours it's allowed to schedule into, cap how much it packs into a day, and drag a task to a time on the Week view.
These settings live in Account & settings → Calendars → Plan my day, and apply everywhere Done places your tasks: Plan my day, the Week view, your calendar feed and Google write-back.
Set your hours
Off, every working day uses the single work day and lunch set under Calendar sync. Turn on Set hours per weekday to give each day its own ranges instead — a day with no range is a day off, and lunch is still kept free. Each day can have up to six ranges, and an end time has to come after its start time.
Buffers and a daily cap
- After meetings — padding after a busy calendar block before the next task is packed in.
- Between tasks — padding between two scheduled tasks.
- Daily cap — stops packing once a day already holds this many minutes of tasks; whatever doesn't fit rolls to a later day.
Buffers offer No buffer, or 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes; the daily cap offers No cap, or 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8 hours.
A task with its own time — one you set, or dragged onto the Week view — always stays at that time, even outside these hours.
Drag a task onto the Week view
The Week view packs your open tasks by priority and deadline — the same view a subscribed calendar gets — plus a Not on this week tray for tasks it couldn't place. Drag a block or a tray task onto a day and time to schedule it there; it snaps to the nearest 15 minutes.
The clock button on a block or tray task does the same thing from the keyboard: Schedule at… opens a Date and Time to pin it, and Let Done place it hands a pinned task back to the scheduler.
